About the Item
(Near) Pair of lounge chairs by the French duo Adrien Audoux
Frida Minet for Vibo Vesoul (circa 1950). The chairs embody the duo's modernist vision: the use of honest, natural materials in a functional and sleek design.
The robust wooden frame is combined with a seat and backrest of thick braided rope. This specific geometric weaving is the trademark of Audoux-Minet. With their powerful, almost primitive appearance, these chairs fit perfectly into a high-end wabi sabi, brutalist, or mid-century modern interior.
The set is a near pair. Although the chairs form a clear unit, the weaving on one chair is slightly coarser than the other. Subtle differences in the silhouette of the seat and backrest are also visible from the side, underlining the unique and handmade character of this vintage set.
