About the Item

A unique one off from One Off Ltd Robert Booth, an artist in his own right, worked with Ron Arad in Rivington Street and later at the now famous Chalk Farm Road Studios in London. Robert says â?? Ron wanted the best quality leather car seats, Rolls Royce seats, were unavailable and so Jaguar seats were suggested, I sourced them but could not find them in sufficient numbers. So the only option was to use Rover car seats which had the required quality leather. In need of furniture and with a baby on the way I asked if I could use my Jaguar seat to make a chair, Ron said yes and the boys at One Off presented it to me for my birthday. This was the only Jaguar Chair ever made at One Off Ltd. workshop." In our view this chair represents a true milestone in the history of modern design, it is without doubt a true collectors piece. The patina is heavy through many years of use. Originally red leather, dyed black by One Off Ltd. workers, we are offering this chair in its unrestored condition. An important statement piece in any environment, with both sculptural and historical value. Traquair acquired the chair directly from Robert Booth and as such the provenance with this piece is superb. We have included photographs of its production at One Off Ltd. and a photograph of Robert working with Ron Arad, see if you can tell them apart.
