About the Item

A rare and iconic design from the 1950s, this set of “Ring Chairs” was designed by Danish designers Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel and produced by the master cabinetmaker Kolds Savvaerk. These highly sought-after pieces exemplify the elegance and craftsmanship of mid-century Scandinavian design. Each chair is crafted from solid teak, with four javelin-shaped legs that give lightness and balance to the sculptural form. The upper circular frame creates a seamless ring that serves as both arms and backrest, embracing the sitter in a flowing, organic silhouette. The seats have been freshly reupholstered in a luxurious fabric, combining timeless design with contemporary comfort. The ergonomic proportions are wider than average, allowing for versatile seating positions and inviting true relaxation. Both refined in execution and supremely comfortable in use, these chairs capture the Ditzels’ unique ability to merge playful innovation with functional beauty. Rarely available as a set, they are a standout addition to any serious design collection. The listed price is for the set of two pieces. Note that these are original first editions from the 1950s / 1960s, and not newly produced pieces by Getama ! The newer versions has other dimensions.
