About the Item

Very rare and still 100% original Marenco lounge chair by Mario Marenco for Arflex, First Edition Original Cognac Aniline Leather Lounge Chair Designed in 1970 by Mario Marenco, the Marenco armchair is one of the most iconic expressions of Italian design from the 1970s. This first edition example reflects the original concept of informal luxury, combining generous proportions with soft architectural volumes. The design integrates effortlessly into modernist, brutalist, Japandi and refined bohemian interiors. This extremely rare example is upholstered in its original cognac aniline leather, showing a rich natural patina and depth of color developed over decades. The leather remains supple and expressive, highlighting the sculptural character of the design. The original internal structure, cushioning and metal base are fully intact, preserving the authentic look and feel of an early Arflex production. The condition is exceptional. The chair is completely original, with no damages, or epairs. Seating comfort remains excellent, offering the characteristic enveloping softness that defines the Marenco. Fully original first edition examples in this condition are increasingly difficult to find. The chair is accompanied by four additional original feet that are 4 cm higher than the feet shown in the photos. This allows the overall height and seating position to be adjusted while preserving originality. As a first edition piece in untouched condition, this Marenco armchair holds strong collector value.
