Sensational vintage Swedish Art Moderne armchair, circa 1940, that masterfully blends timeless structure with unexpected color. This piece is a product of the Swedish Functionalism (Funkis) movement, which defined Art Moderne in Scandinavia by prioritizing human comfort, functional elegance and clean lines with no distracting artifice. This high-back lounge chair has been expertly restored with new internal cushioning to meet today's level of supreme comfort and sophisticated presence. It is upholstered in an extraordinary new velvet striped fabric—a textile marvel whose unusual palette of golds, burgundy, red, rusts, black, green and browns that has a strikingly modern feel, stylistically reminiscent of designer Paul Smith's work. A button-tufted inside back and classic rolled arms contrast beautifully with the vibrant vertical stripe, making this piece a stunning focal point.
