About the Item

Eat your hearts out Jansen collectors, this Maison Jansen loveseat is signed underneath with 'Jansen/ Industria Argentina' stenciled fabric signifying this important upholstered settee was made in Jansen's Buenos Aires workshop. Newly reupholstered in pink bouclé which thick textures accent the curvy and seductive silhouettes. Seat cushion stuffed with new down filling. *NOTE* We had a pair of these sofas, as you can see in the photos, however one sofa has already sold to a very important client, and we now only have the single sofa left. From the 1880s to the 1980s, Maison Jansen outfitted many of the most important homes and offices from Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, and Pamela Harriman just to name a few. Jansen's surviving interiors for monarchs, dictators, and social doyennes are now the focus of preservation projects while the furniture and objets d’art are sought after by interior designers, collectors and art investors, and decorative arts scholars alike. This is an incredible opportunity to acquire a piece of Maison Jansen's history. As not many of Jansen's designs were signed, this prized collectors piece can serve as functional art and historical preservation while it's comfort and beauty grace your home or office. This signed Maison Jansen two-seater sofa would work great in a French Neoclassical, Traditional, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, Classical, Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Post-Modern, Contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room and is also an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. MEASUREMENTS: H 35.5" x W 54" x D 32" Seat Height: 18.5" Seat Depth: 22.5" Arm Height: 25.5" CONDITION: Excellent reupholstered condition. The wood block feet were intentionally left original with age and wear. The fabric underneath was also intentionally left original since it is signed with Jansen stamp. We added additional supporting fabric to the opposite side and adhered it so to strengthen the stenciled fabric. Beautiful sofa ready for immediate use.

Fiberglass Loveseat w Pierre Cardin Fabric by Tue Poulsen for Domus Danica, 1970
By Domus Danica, Tue Poulsen
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This very rare fiberglass loveseat sofa is by Tue Poulsen for Domus Danica, circa 1970, and is one of approximately 80 pieces within a collection of fiberglass furniture that were produced for a design exhibition at the Bella Center in Copenhagen Denmark. The cushions have been newly upholstered in dead stock (never used vintage) Pierre Cardin fabric. This settee sofa, also referred to as a double lounge chair, was accompanied with other living room furniture for this collection which included a lounge chair, sofa, chaise lounge and tables. The voluptuous shapes were created in Poulsen's ceramic workshop, and pays homage to the ceramicists skills and vision in his tenured career as a sculptor and artist. Included in the photo gallery is a photo of Tue Poulsen with a chair example of the same design. In the same photo is documentation of the chair design and production photos when the chair was originally conceptualized and created, provided by Tue Poulsen to dealer/collector 'Deerstedt' (photo credit also to 'Deerstedt'). Loveseat Sofa by Claudio Salocchi for Sormani Italy, c 1970, Signed
By Claudio Salocchi, Sormani
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This newly reupholstered loveseat sofa by Claudio Salocchi for Sormani, circa 1970s, features a graceful chrome frame with nubby white bouclé fabric. Signed with 1960s/ 1970s Sormani label as shown in photo gallery. *Note, we have the matching pair of club chairs available in another listing. The graceful frame shares a design quality with Cassina's LC2 / LC3 design by Le Corbusier, as they are 'buckets of cushions' in similar fashion and comfort. However this Sormani sofa features some unique subtle details, such as the slight "twist" in the rear legs (see photos). Signed with a Sormani label, this particular rare design is attributed to Claudio Salocchi. While there were several other famous designers who created works for Sormani in this time period, the style best matches Salocchi's work. For collectors looking for something unique and rare within a collection of 1960s/ 1970s Italian designs, this pair two-seater couch is an amazing opportunity. This Cassina LC2 / LC3 loveseat...

Vladimir Kagan Model #100A Barrel Lounge Chair in Velvet, c. 1973, Signed
By Vladimir Kagan
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This rare collectors piece is the Vladimir Kagan model #100-A 'Barrel Lounge Chair' on ball casters, designed in 1947, signed with Vladimir Kagan Designs label. The gorgeous velvet is in a red color but with a hint of burnt orange tone giving it a beautiful warmth and softness that can benefit any space. Signature curvaceous arms make this Barrel chair easily recognizable by design fans and a go-to choice for top interior designs throughout the world. This incredible collector's piece is a glimpse into Vladi's history. The 100-A Barrel chair was designed in 1947, this particular example was produced in circa 1973 in Kagan's new (at the time) state of the art factory in Long Island, after the Hugo Dreyfuss factory burned down in 1972. Highly sought-after by both collectors and interior designers - signed examples like this one being the most desirable as Kagan's designs were often copied throughout the years. This Barrel club chair by Vladimir Kagan for Vladimir Kagan Designs would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Post-Modern room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Consider using as a side chair, cafe or breakfast table chair, bedside chair...
