The brass mechanism is in great shape still works effortlessly.
Measures: Height 40 inches, width 26 inches, depth fully retracted 30", fully extended depth is 45".
Marsh and Jones began making furniture around 1850, originally known as “Marsh and Jones: Medieval Cabinet Makers” of Leeds", becoming Marsh Jones and Cribb in 1867 and exhibited at the Paris Exposition in 1878. They employed Charles Bevan who in 1865 gave them licence to manufacture his successful ‘New Registered Reclining Chair'. Bevan designed the furniture and interiors for the son of Sir Titus Salt an enormous commission for his marital home Saltaire.

A very rare sofa, this is a vintage piece bought from Harrods London in the late 60's to early 70's, the leather upholstery is all original, the cushions are full leather on both sides so should the worst happen and you damage or stain one side you can simply flip it over
The sofa has been fully restored to include a light strip back, its then been hand dyed six times and antiqued this one of a kind deep cigar brown colour. The feet are all new hand turned solid walnut which have been professionally stained and French polished, they have been specially fitted with 8mm metal axles so they can be unscrewed for ease of transport, the base cover is hessian throughout
