About the Item
An English ottoman upholstered in a 19th century Moroccan Fez-weave marriage blanket (Handira), double-sided and richly patterned with traditional geometric motifs. These ceremonial textiles were woven as part of a bride’s trousseau, symbolising protection and prosperity. The fine brocade work and deep indigo palette are characteristic of the Fez weaving tradition (Fassi technique) - Sourced from reputable antique fabric dealer in Tangier.
Raised on tapered walnut legs with brass castors, the ottoman combines artisanal textile history with a clean, versatile form.
