About the Item

A highly collectable, Circa 1800’s Parisian Napoleon III Aesthetic Movement Stool. Oriental influenced with carved (faux) bamboo legs, and a centered English turned finial with cross-stretchers in giltwood; with soft terracotta-colored suede upholstery trimmed with brass Spanish nail heads. This piece is particularly special because it was originally placed by Interior Designer Michael S. Smith in actor Jim Belushi’s Brentwood, CA estate. Smith is one of the most esteemed talents in the design industry today, known for blending European classicism and American modernism. His work is layered and tailored with casual refinement. His A-List clients include the White House for President and First Lady, Barack and Michelle Obama, Steven Spielberg, Cindy Crawford, Dustin Hoffman, George Clooney, Harrison Ford, and Rupert Murdoch. Early on, he apprenticed under antique dealer Gep Durenberger and legendary designer John Saladino, As a Curator and Interior Designer, these are the storied pieces I seek – knowing it will transcend time, always in style, never trendy.
