Norway - 1970's
In 1941, furniture manufacturing began on a small scale in 1941 in the cellar of the Hjellegjerde family in Sykkylven, a village in the Møre and Romsdal fjord. The brothers Otto and Mindor Hjellegjerde are the founders.
Over the years, the cellar has constantly expanded to allow for an increase in production and the third brother, Ingvald, joined the company in 1946.
Driven by a burning desire to create, the brothers built a company that has become one of the largest furniture groups in Norway and a major player in the development of the Norwegian furniture industry.
