MINUS is a sculptural, monomaterial lounge chair by KUTARQ Studio, crafted from a single 10 mm bent aluminum sheet with no welding, joints, or ornamentation—just raw aluminum pushed to its structural and aesthetic limits. This bold, minimalist design is elevated by a repurposed car spring integrated into the base, subtly controlling the rocking motion and providing unexpected comfort. With its clean lines and industrial precision, MINUS blurs the boundaries between lounge chair, rocking chair, and collectible design object. Timeless and technically ambitious, it stands as a functional sculpture—an iconic piece of contemporary furniture that reflects KUTARQ’s masterful command of form, material, and restraint.
Jordi López Aguiló is the founder of KUTARQ Studio, a Valencia-based architecture and design practice known for its refined and emotionally resonant approach to lighting, furniture, and spatial design. With a background in architecture and experience at prestigious firms in Copenhagen and Paris, López Aguiló established his studio in 2012, where he leads each project with a methodical process rooted in material experimentation and conceptual clarity. His work is guided by a desire to reveal the “soul” of each object—resulting in honest, functional, and timeless pieces that balance innovation with simplicity. From collectible furniture to architectural interventions, KUTARQ’s designs reflect a pragmatic elegance and a deep respect for craftsmanship.
