About the Item

A Swedish period Rococo two-chair back style settee with upholstered seat, from the 18th century. This antique love-seat from Sweden features a nicely-carved two-chair back, defined with a pair of shapely splat backs with a fluid top rail that rises and falls, giving definition to each seat. The arms have a wavy design that terminate into outwardly curved knuckles, supported beneath by carved arm posts. Foliate motif accents, highlighted in a bronze/gold, adorn the backrests, apron, knees and legs. The sofa is presented upon six legs, with front three being cabriole style terminating into pad feet, and rear being plain. The finish is later and not original (arms have a natural wear to them). The seat is upholstered in a checked pattern and there are some small stains on the fabric (perhaps time for a refresher to make this piece your own!). This period Swedish Rococo settee will make a charming and intimate seating addition for your home.
