About the Item

A beautiful and most unique French 19th century Louis XV st. giltwood settee. The small scale settee is raised by elegant slender cabriole legs with fine scrolled feet, corner acanthus leaf carvings, and lovely mottled fillets which extend up each leg and along the scalloped shaped frieze. The frieze displays delicate finely carved foliate designs with a wavy and mottled wrap around band. Above the seat, the back supports retain all their original canning set within beautiful scrolled arms with wonderfully mottled movements and richly carved foliate designs.
