About the Item

A decorative and most elegant pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Giltwood settees. Each beautiful settee is raised on four straight tapered and fluted legs with finely carved rosette top cap blocks. The rosette blocks above each leg flank the front and both side aprons which display a fine band of egg and dart patterned designs. The carved acanthus leaves at the base of each arm lead up to the scrolled hand rest and upholstered arm rest. The lovely upholstered backrest is edged with attractive carved spiraling designs and a bowed ribbon central reserve.
