About the Item

This is a Navy Aluminum Upholstered Side Chair, Model 1002, first produced by Emeco for use on American submarines in 1944. This particular example dates to 1969. The design features a recycled anodized aluminum frame and has dark red vinyl upholstery on its seat and back. The piece retains an Emeco tag affixed underneath the seat, There is also an inventory tag indicating that it was the property of The Lowell Technological Institute, a public college located in Lowell, Massachusetts. The chair is very lightweight but is ridiculously sturdy and will last a lifetime. This chair measures 22 inches deep, 17.5 inches wide, and 33.25 inches high. It has a seat height of 17.75 inches. The upholstery is seemingly original to the piece and shows fading and blemishes. There are several scratches on the frame, especially at the bottom of the legs. Overall, this chair is in good condition. Please see photos.
