About the Item

Decorate a hallway, bedroom, or study with this finely carved antique side chair. Crafted in Brittany, France circa 1870, the tall chair stands on square legs connected by stretchers, and features a scalloped apron adorned with spindle and shell motifs. The rectangular back showcases intricate hand-carved floral borders and inset panels depicting Breton figures in traditional regional attire framed by Gothic arches. The wide seat, newly upholstered in textured red velvet fabric, is trimmed with decorative brass nail heads for a refined finish. The chair is in excellent condition with rich, deep carving details and a warm walnut-brown patina that enhances its 19th-century character. A beautiful example of provincial artistry from the Brittany region, blending rustic charm with sculptural craftsmanship. Measures: 22″ W x 19″ D x 44″ H.
