About the Item
A beautiful pair of petite antique hand-carved wood grotto chairs. Imported from France, this pair of antique side chairs will be a fabulous addition to a dining room or dressing table. Each chair is carved from wood and features a shell motif at the top of each back. They give a somewhat Hollywood Regency vibe, with the backs appearing to have a jasper leaf running up the back to the shell which tops each seat off. The seats are upholstered in a cream flame stitch with straight fronts and a curved back. The legs feature intricately carved floral medallions. The underside on the bottoms was a clue to their age. Small antique nails were used in the upholstery, with nailhead trim around the entire seat.
Use these chairs in a dining room, or in a bedroom at a dressing table or vanity.
