This is an antique law chambers hall chair. A Scottish, walnut reception seat in Rococo taste, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1850. Striking reception hall chair, with bold Rococo overtones Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order Walnut stocks present fine grain interest throughout Warm caramel hues accentuate the distinctive form Fascinating scroll shield back with prominent surmount Back rest with oval medallion and finished with an enamelled crest Sporting eagle winds, the scroll in Latin translating to 'Freedom through Law' Shaped seat squab set at a comfortable height of 43cm (17'') Tall cabriole front legs, with relief scroll to the knee over a scrolled toe Rear legs gently splayed with square section feet This is a fascinating antique law chambers hall chair, offering gorgeous colour and a distinctive Rococo form. Solid joints and construction, delivered ready for the home.
