About the Item
A Chinese Qing Dynasty period dark brown lacquer wooden side chair from the 19th century with rattan seat and back, carved scrolls and meander motifs. Created in China during the Qing Dynasty period in the 19th century, this wooden side chair showcases traditional Chinese details carved on its wooden frame. The chair is indeed adorned with linear scrolls on its upper rail topped with a simply carved crest. This rounded back showcases a hand-woven rattan design echoed on the seat. Rattan is a traditional material contrasting here beautifully with the dark hue of the brown lacquer. The chair is raised on four legs with rounded lines in the front, curving in to rest on a plinth adorned with carved meander motifs. The flattened feet are scrolled as well. The chair showcases a carved apron on three sides. With its elegant lines and discreetly carved décor, this Chinese Qing Dynasty period brown lacquer and rattan side chair from the 19th century will add a subtle touch of elegance to any home, perhaps displayed in a dining room, office of foyer.
