About the Item

Woodframe in walnut, original vintage leather upholstery. Bespoke commission for Shell, no mass-manufactured item. The design is recorded in the monograph J.J.P. Oud Architect, where it appears among his documented works.
Jacobus Johannes Pieter (J.J.P.) Oud was a Dutch architect born in 1890 and an important early figure in the De Stijl movement. He became known for his modernist housing projects in Rotterdam, where he served as Municipal Housing Architect, and later for integrating more traditional materials and forms into his work. His career spans architecture, furniture design, and urban planning, positioning him as a central contributor to 20th-century Dutch modernism.
