Some say that ONE is the loneliest number. However, sometimes something is SO fantastic… ONE is all you NEED… THIS is that something!!!! That’s right, we have a single chair attributed to Bernhardt that you could call a side or desk chair, an occasional chair, an accent chair, a single dining chair, or quite frankly just a BAD (BOOTIE) solo seat composed of a handsome hardwood frame bearing straight cylindrical front legs, splayed tapered square back legs, a beautiful brass wire mesh decorative accent inset in the back splat, outward curved arms, and… it’s wearing a lovely off-white (newly reupholstered) canvas fabric seat!!! DANG!!!! It is SHARP folks!!! And it is so versatile… it will be phenomenal in any room of your home! Whether it’s looking glamorous in a corner of your dressing area or bedroom, exuding excellence at a vanity or at a desk in the office or study, or manifesting its magnificence in a hall or entry utilized as a fabulous spot to sit
remove your shoes… This baby BURSTS with Mid-Century Modern to Hollywood Regency style and exudes a timeless design that you are sure to love for many years to come.
Bernhardt Furniture was established in 1889 by John Mathias Bernhardt and has been going strong for over 125 years. He spent many years out west in Oregon Territory. After a serious illness, traveling back home to Lenoir, North Carolina, and working as a logger in the densely forested foothills of Grandfather Mountain. He went to work for Caldwell Land and Lumber Company and while working there he convinced them to build a railroad to move lumber and supplies. He then purchased his own sawmill and began buying timber. The next step of manufacturing his own furniture followed soon after bringing the birth of Bernhardt Furniture. He became known as a man of integrity, giving back to his community and for producing high quality furniture. A legacy was born. It was carried on and improved upon by his sons, George Bernhardt and John Christian Bernhardt, and eventually his grandson, Alex Bernhardt Sr. Through the years they grew, expanded, diversified, bought other companies, sold other companies, created divisions, and let them go. Two important names in all the comings and goings were Flair and Hibriten. Bernhardt Furniture remains a family-owned company with Alex Bernhardt Jr. is now the 4th generation to be involved. They continue John Mathias’ legacy of integrity, high-quality furnishings, and giving back to their community.
Stunning appearance, superb quality, impeccable style, AND it’s attributed to Bernhardt to BOOT!!! This fantastic chair has it ALL!!! So, you can call it an accent chair, call it a single dining, occasional, side or desk chair…. But whatever you choose to call it… don’t hesitate any longer… to call it YOURS!!!

Vintage Mid-Century Modern Club Lounge Chair by Flair Division for Bernhardt
By Bernhardt
Located in Topeka, KS
Handsome Mid-Century Modern club chair or lounge chair from the Flair Division of Bernhardt Furniture. It is in wonderful vintage condition and wearing its original light turquoise blue nubby fabric. It has been professionally cleaned but the fabric does have fading as you would expect and there are still stains but no holes or tears. It will be at its best recovered. It is priced accordingly. Please see photos, circa 1960s.
I must tell you when we walked into the home where we obtained this chair and many of our other recent and soon to be offerings, I thought if I was ever going to faint this is the time. Of course, the house itself blew me away and then……the original furniture and art in all its glory. This chair is part of a three-piece living room suite by Bernhardt Furniture Flair Division and we are offering all three pieces this week. This club chair with its Lawson styling and loose cushions is really comfy; plus, it is held up off the floor with a fabulous base. The base or legs are comprised of a pair of walnut planks turned upright and running from front to back on each side of the chair. Simple yet dynamic.
