A truly sublime pair of very rare, Gothic Steeple back Pugin chairs. The frames are very heavy, they are most likely Honduras Mahogany which was the finest timber being imported by Gillow's and other like minder companies at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th century.
The chairs have the Thomas Chippendale Cluster Column legs to the front which house early porcelain castors, the steeple arched back rests are ornately carved in a way I have never seen, they are very deep and have an almost Rosewood patina to them. The leather seat pads are deep dark oxblood
We have cleaned waxed and polished the frames, they are in lovely order throughout, there will naturally be period patination all over

Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
