This is a pair of antique side chairs. An Oriental, lacquered elbow seat with cane squabs, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880. Attractive and well-proportioned, these chairs delight with their rich lacquer finish and elegant form. Striking Oriental craftsmanship, graced with wonderful colour and aesthetic appeal Resplendent in russet lacquer, exhibiting a pleasing depth of tone and aged lustre Serpentine crest rail and shaped back splat contrast beautifully with the square lower section Decorative frieze with relief carving lends an ornate touch to the back rest Bowed arms sweep gracefully outward, supported by twin vertical posts Seats host taut cane inserts, gently time-worn and full of character Square section legs united by stretcher rails for strength and stability Fretwork detail to the apron corners adds refinement to the form This is a superb pair of antique side chairs, with rich lacquer tones and elegant Oriental craftsmanship. Solid joints and construction, delivered ready for the home.
