Pair of midcentury Italian Flame chairs newly upholstered, 1960s.
A pair of very rare and sculptural Pozzi
Verga model ‘2/R’ or ''Flame'' chairs, designed by Dante LaTorre. The chairs are made of bent, laminated rosewood on a black ash frame. They have fixed cushions with a new French cream (ecru) Bouclé wool upholstery. The rosewood has a unique shape and has a bleached finish. A very rare and beautiful set.
The chairs are in very good vintage condition, the plywood veneer bent seat has been gently sanded and newly oiled, the new upholstery is from French cream Bouclé (ecru). Only some minor surface wear here and there commensurate with age.

These beautiful bentwood chairs were designed in 1958 by the Italian architect Eugenio Gerli for Società Compensatie Curvi. This company, which was located in Monza at the time, specialized in manufacturing highly stylized chairs made of bentwood with a modular choice offered to the customer. For example, there was a catalog showing that at that time you could choose from different types of bases and bodies. These specific lounge chairs are made up of seven layers of glued and bent teak veneer. A special example of craftsmanship and artistry in which technique and aesthetics effortlessly come together.
