About the Item

These sculptural chairs feature a high, architectural "ladder" or "spindle" backrest consisting of four vertical brass rods. The most distinct feature is the wraparound "halo" armrests that curve from the backrest down to the seat, creating a floating, circular silhouette. The frames are wrought iron, sprayed gold leaf. The seats are circular "pancake" cushions, typically upholstered in a vibrant blue velvet. They are a classic example of 1950s 1960s Italian Modernism or Hollywood Regency glamour. Their slender profile makes them popular as statement accent chairs or vanity chairs. Italy, circa 1950–1960.
