About the Item
Pierre Decorse (b1953) organic sculptural figured walnut side chair. Circa 2000.
A beautifully hand‑crafted side chair made from a single piece of highly figured Walnut. The flowing silhouette blends organic curves with bold, asymmetrical lines, giving the piece a presence that feels both modern and timeless.
The backrest features a organic arched crest and refined carved detailing. This detail is the same as another cabinet I have of decorses work. This chair is not signed or dated.
The legs extend in an expressive, almost zoomorphic form, emphasizing the chair’s status as functional art rather than conventional furniture. Every surface reveals the richness of the walnut grain, shifting beautifully with the light.
A small number of old historic woodworm holes, formed in the tree long before the timber was worked. The chair is very solid and sturdy.
The shaped back giving a upright comfortable feel.
