About the Item
American Chippendale camelback 18th century sofa featuring a mahogany frame. It has newly upholstered by an ex-Colonial Williamsburg master upholsterer in rich golden bronze silk damask Scalamandre fabric. The upholstery is highlighted with brass headed nails outlining the arms and seat rails. Pennsylvania, 1785 - 1800 (Information from Upholstery in America and Europe: From the 17th century to World War I, edited by Edward S. Cooke).
Original frame has been tightened and refurbished.
