About the Item
Mario Ceroli 3-seater sofa for Poltronova, Italy, 1972. Mario Ceroli (Castel Frentano, 1938) is one of the most important Italian artists, sculptors, and designers of the post-war period. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, where he came into contact with masters such as Leoncillo, Fazzini, and Colla, he began his career as a ceramist. In 1958, he exhibited at the Spoleto Prize and held his first solo exhibition at the Galleria San Sebastinello in Rome. Starting in 1959, Mario Ceroli distinguished himself for his innovative use of materials such as raw wood and Russian pine, with which he created shaped and functional sculptures capable of interacting with their surroundings. His works, characterized by bold lines, dramatic forms, and strong visual impact, often pay homage to masterpieces of art history.
Recognized as a leading figure in contemporary Italian sculpture, Mario Ceroli combines tradition and experimentation, consolidating his role as a reference point in the art and design scene of the 20th century. Bibliography, original catalog.
