About the Item

Antique button backed two seater sofa. This elegant 19th Century French two seat button back settee in the Napoleon III style with an elegant 'chapeau de gendarme' shape back, scroll arms and built in lumbar support provides all the style, support and comfort you could want. Perfect proportions, raised on five beech wood legs, the three front legs are well turned. Seat depth 53 cm. This sofa was an upholsterer's apprentice piece and has therefore been completely re-upholstered in the traditional French manner including new springs and all-natural fibre filling. The top fabric - 'truffle' by Sanderson The student was Chrissie Pether (nee Schotten) who passed with distinction. A very comfortable sofa indeed, of exceptional quality, which will last for many years to come. Photos of the stages of upholstery are available on request.
