About the Item
Sofa in carved and gilded wood with a curved back and double matting designed by Richard Guino (1890–1973). Central medallion representing Venus and Cupid signed "GUINO".
Richard Guino, disciple of Aristide Maillol (1861-1944), made a colaboration with Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) in the making of his sculpture sketches.
Provenance: Ex "Rafael Oliveira Cesar" Collection, Museo Nacional de Arte Decortaivo ("Art Deco y su tiempo" N°100 in the catalogue).

Richard Guino
Richard Guino was a French sculptor who worked on bronze, ceramics, plaster, glass and maiolics. In 1913, he was commissioned by Ambroise Vollard to work with Auguste Renoir on his sculptures, which are exhibited in many museums.
