About the Item

Art Deco Sofa in Solid Wood and Tapisserie 1930s This is an incredible museum worthy art deco sofa in solid wood and tapisserie, made in the 1930s. Most probably Belgian or Dutch origin. A very rare find, this sofa features a sculptural and very distinct art deco design. Wonderful details are omnipresent; just look at the elegant cubist shapes and other details like the slightly curved back feet and the decorative front feet. Of course, the pièce de résistance is the stunning tapisserie upholstery which is as impressive now as when it was new. Wonderfully preserved and highly original, this sofa appears as if it has never been used. It must have acted as a show piece in a prestigious art deco interior. Hopefully it will serve the same purpose in the next 100 years. Please note: consider the comfort in the context of 1930s sitting comfort. All in all a very rare and stunning sofa with jaw dropping upholstery. Please note: we also have a matching pair of art deco armchairs available in another listing.
