This exceptional Italian Art Deco two-seat sofa, crafted in the 1930s, is a rare example of the refined craftsmanship and sculptural design that defined Italian decorative arts during the interwar period. Originating from a private villa in Naples, the piece remains in fully original and museum-quality condition, perfectly matching the pair of lounge chairs from the same ensemble.
The sofa features an elegant U-shaped frame in walnut burl, showcasing extraordinary book-matched grain patterns and a deep, lustrous patina. Its sweeping curves and plinth base reflect the luxurious architectural forms of Italian Art Deco, while the two carved wooden spheres integrated into the lower structure emphasize balance and movement — hallmarks of period design.
The seat and back retain their original jacquard velvet upholstery in rich tones of burgundy, gold, and olive green. The fabric’s geometric floral motifs and tactile texture convey the opulence of 1930s Italian interiors.
