About the Item

Designed by Swedish furniture designer Karin Mobring, this Småland sofa was produced by IKEA in the 1970s and reflects Mobring’s signature blend of Scandinavian simplicity and rustic modernism. The piece features a solid wood frame, finished in white lacquer, paired with its original check-pattern upholstery, known as Gulrand. The geometric profile, subtle curves along the armrests, and Mobring’s characteristic focus on everyday functionality give the sofa both a warm presence and a timeless aesthetic. Karin Mobring (1940–2005) was one of IKEA’s most influential designers. After joining in the mid-1960s, she became known for her ability to merge traditional Nordic materials with a clean, modern form language. Her work from the 1970s — including Natur, Ankar and Småland — is today highly collectible, appreciated for its authenticity and craftsmanship. Condition: Very good vintage condition with light signs of age and use. Original upholstery in excellent preserved condition.
