About the Item

Large late 18th Century George III giltwood sofa in the manner of James Wyatt. This sofa has a detailed frame that includes bellflowers and carved rosettes. The whole is raised on beautiful tapering legs that support its original horsehair, squab cushion. This fine sofa would have been a key piece in a grand country house drawing-room. It has been later gold-painted but retains its original gilding underneath. A stunning piece that will bestow classic country-house grandeur into any setting.
