About the Item

Designed by Michele De Lucchi in 1982, this superb object of functional decor will offer a comfortable seat to an eclectic interior, while also being a magnificent colorful accent to enrich a contemporary interior. The structure in wood, metal, and plastic laminate is padded and upholstered in cotton. Every element of the structure is marked with a different, vibrant color, while the back support of the armrest boasts a black and white pattern of parallel lines. Founded in Milan in 1980 by Ettore Sottsass and a group of visionary designers (including Martine Bedin, George J. Sowden, and Michele de Lucchi), Memphis redefined the design landscape with its radical, emotionally charged aesthetic. Rejecting functionalism, the collective introduced a bold visual language rich in symbolism and color. Over the years, its roster of creatives has expanded, but its mission remains unchanged: to create objects that evoke emotion and challenge conventions. Memphis pieces are now celebrated in major museums, from the Victoria Albert Museum to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Tobia Scarpa Three Seater Sofa by Cassina
By Cassina, Tobia Scarpa
Located in Barcelona, Barcelona
Three Seater Sofa model Soriana designed by Tobia Scarpa in 1969. Manufactured by Cassina in Italy. A design armchair with soft, generous contours, designed to bring home casual, sophisticated comfort that opens the door to new, freer lifestyles. The idea for this armchair that changed the face of upholstered furniture belongs to Afra and Tobia Scarpa, who designed it in 1969, starting with the new possibilities offered by the forming of polyurethane foam to create an unconventional look of leisure. With a vise-like grip, the metal structure holds the armchair, with its biodegradable internal padding that, for the first time ever, needs no internal support, intensifying the comfort level of this upholstered chair in the most freeing sense of the word.
