About the Item

Elegant Emilian living room in the Charles X style, an authentic example of 19th-century aristocratic furniture, consisting of a sofa, two armchairs and a coffee table. The set is distinguished by its imposing structure, fine carved and gilded woodwork, and numerous fine ornamental details. 1. SofaThe sofa is embellished with a majestic carved noble coat of arms in the center of the selvedge, testifying to the original membership of a high-ranking family. The gilding follows ornamental and floral motifs, extending continuously over the back, arms and legs. 2. ArmchairsThe two armchairs, matching the sofa, feature curved backs and decorations in perfect stylistic harmony. Each element is embellished with finely executed carvings along the frames and arms, with brilliant gilding enhancing the elegant lines. 3. TableThe table has a central base carved with floral motifs and scrolls, supported by four decorated and gilded feet, consistent with the other elements of the living room. The upper floor is currently missing, but the supporting structure retains all the refinement of the original carving. Conservation statusThe living room is in good overall condition: the structures are solid and well preserved. It is reported that there is a xylophagus attack currently in progress, which will be treated shortly. Some chipping, especially in the lower legs and gilded areas, is consistent with the age of the artifact. Only one small carved element resultsmancant on the coffee table. Overall, the gilding remains rich and continuous, enhancing the whole with floral and ornamental motifs typical of the style. This drawing room represents a fine example of aristocratic craftsmanship and design from the time of Charles X, a period when attention to detail and the use of gilding were symbols of luxury and prestige.
