The Chesterfield Sofa is an emblem of our global reputation for exceptional upholstery craftsmanship. The original piece was named for Lord Phillip Stanhope, the 4th Earl of Chesterfield, who was renowned for his style and gentlemanly decorum. Legend has it that he commissioned the first sofa of this style, with a low seat, deep buttoning and quilted leather upholstery. Its classic design is rich with history and tradition, subtly infused with contemporary refinement to create a piece that’s both extravagant and practical. The Chesterfield Sofa is carefully sculpted to provide optimal support and supreme comfort even after prolonged use. This beloved staple, with its generous seat depth, can be styled as a standalone statement or accessorised with cushions and throws. The charm of the Chesterfield lies in its versatility, epitomising the perfect blend of heritage and innovation, extravagance and practicality. The Chesterfield Sofa bears exquisite testament to timeless style, supreme comfort, and exceptional craftsmanship. If you have ever seen a George Smith Chesterfield before, they are insanely comfortable, as you can see in the pictures, the arm and back rest is around three times larger than other modern versions, this takes away the traditional Chesterifeld stiffness and gives a more sympathetic seat Price wise, these start at just under £11,000 for the small two seat versions and go up £20,000 for the extra extra large versions each, this pair retail well over £30,000 new and with the additional leather work they will be the best part of £40,000 Both sofas have been upholstered in premium English cattle hide leather, they were upholstered plain then hand dyed a deep solid brown, we have fully restored the pair to include having this plain solid brown stripped out, they have then been hand dyed six times, antiqued, sealed, waxed down and polished, the end result is sublime Dimensions Height:- 78cm Width:- 240cm Depth:- 110cm Seat height:- 41cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask. Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
