About the Item

Móveis Cimo / Rare Sofa Imbuia Wood, Ivory Velvet 1960s, Brazil Matching Pair of Lounge Chairs Available This rare Móveis Cimo model is offered as an exceptionally intact sofa and pair of armchairs set, reupholstered in high quality ivory velour with sculptural shells that appear to float above Brazilian hardwood bases. Founded in 1913 in Santa Catarina, Móveis Cimo grew from a small box factory into the largest furniture manufacturer in Latin America. Between the 1930s and 1970s the company became a pioneer in industrialized furniture production in Brazil, introducing product standardization, serial manufacturing, and advanced techniques for the time. While committed to accessible pricing, Cimo never abandoned quality: through rational use of materials and refined construction, it created durable and elegant pieces that shaped everyday interiors across the country. More than a manufacturer, Móveis Cimo played a foundational role in Brazil’s modern furniture history, bridging artisanal tradition and mass production on an unprecedented scale.
