About the Item

This Danish Mid-Century Modern sofa was made in the 1970's in Denmark. Featuring thick sculpted arms with a solid teak frame and slatted back, with tufted cushions upholstered in its original fabric, making this sofa just as comfortable as it is beautiful. Ideally the sofa would be reupholstered to new fabric however if you are using with other vintage items in a vintage setting, it can be used immediately with its original fabric. This Danish Modern slatted teak couch would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Post-Modern room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. MEASUREMENTS: H 39" x W 74" x D 34" Seat Height: 15.5" Seat Depth: 19" Arm Height: 21" CONDITION: Good vintage condition with light age appropriate wear, ready to be used immediately in a vintage setting. The teak frame has light patina and wear including minor scratches and scuffs however is only visible upon closer inspection and is attractive and presentable. Ideally the fabric would be reupholstered as it has snags, pulls and minor tears along with age appropriate wear and minor soiling however can be used in its current fabric in a vintage appropriate setting.

This newly reupholstered loveseat sofa by Claudio Salocchi for Sormani, circa 1970s, features a graceful chrome frame with nubby white bouclé fabric. The graceful frame shares a design quality with Cassina's LC2 / LC3 design by Le Corbusier, as they are 'buckets of cushions' in similar fashion and comfort. However this Sormani sofa features some unique subtle details, such as the slight "twist" in the rear legs (see photos). Signed with a Sormani label, this particular rare design is attributed to Claudio Salocchi.
