About the Item

Crafted by the renowned master Percival Lafer in 1970, this exceptional piece of furniture boasts a striking and comfortable design. Its clean lines and unique details, such as elegantly curved legs and a beautiful structure, make it stand out from other furniture pieces of its era. The legs are constructed with chrome steel, which adds an element of sleek sophistication to the piece. This piece has been expertly reupholstered in stunning suede, perfectly preserving its original aura while also adding a touch of luxury. The reupholstering process was carried out by our team of highly skilled craftsmen who specialize in restoring and preserving furniture. The result is a piece that not only boasts its original striking and comfortable design but also exudes a refined and sophisticated feel. Percival Lafer was not just a designer, but also an architect who believed that a piece of furniture could only be considered truly valuable if it pleased the public, not just the creator. His designs are recognized for their originality, innovation, and excellent design quality. Additionally, Lafer is one of the pioneers of the industrialization of Brazilian design processes. Each of Lafer's projects reflected the state of the art applied to new ideas. He was ahead of his time, constantly searching for new technical resources and experimenting with materials with originality and boldness. His creations ended up conquering the world, thus helping to redefine the idea of Brazilian furniture. Lafer's unique approach to design resulted in pieces that were both functional and aesthetically pleasing. He believed that furniture should not just be seen as art, but also as a practical and useful tool in people's daily lives. This philosophy is reflected in the design of this particular piece, which combines form and function seamlessly. Overall, this piece of furniture is a testament to Lafer's legacy as a designer and architect. Its timeless design and excellent craftsmanship make it a valuable addition to any collection, and a true representation of Brazilian furniture design at its finest.

"Concha" Sofa by Carlo Hauner and Martin Eisler, Modern Brazilian Design, 1950s
By Carlo Hauner and Martin Eisler
Located in New York, NY
Designed by Carlo Hauner and Martin Eisler, modern Brazilian sofa, iron, and velvet. Brazil, circa 1950s. Shell or "Concha" sofa is made of iron and recently reupholstered in yellow velvet by the experienced craftsmen in our team. The upholstery was chosen considering the contemporary proposal of the piece. The sofa features a comfortable seat, clean design, and freedom of user movements and is constructed in a frame with metal rods elegantly positioned to give strength to the piece, a common trait of designers. The buttons velvet coated between seat and backs were used, by the designers, for an excellent velvet finish, and the restoration proposal was to maintain them. Martin Eisler and Carlo Hauner were the primary designers for the iconic Brazilian furniture...
