About the Item

Superb and exclusive "Californian" model sofa set in dark brown leather upholstery with stainless steel bases by Parisian high society designer Jacques Charpentier . The set comprises one 2 seat and one 3 seat sofa and both sofas are signed with original Jacques Charpentier metal tags. (Please see image 7) These wonderful sofas have recently been renovated including new leather and webbing and are therefore in excellent condition. The backrest and seat cushions are also extremely practical in that the leather covers have zippers (please see image 9) so the internal foam can easily be changed over time without destroying the leather covers. The 'Californian' model by Charpentier was retailed by the exclusive Galerie FLAT in Paris in 1970 and was published in several important french design journals of the period. Please see list of literature at bottom of page.
