About the Item

A Swedish period Gustavian upholstered and carved-wood sofa from the early 19th century. This antique tub style sofa from Sweden features an elegantly arched wooden top rail, with sides sloping down to become arms (fitted with manchette pad rests), and terminating into scroll-carved knuckles. The skirt trim molding mimics the top lines, and is embellished with floral accents above each knee. The sofa is raised nicely upon six rounded and fluted cylindrical legs that taper gently towards their feet. The upholstered barrel style back embraces the sides with a comforting wrap. The upholstery is in need of a refresher; the perfect opportunity to make this piece your own! This Swedish period Gustavian sofa, just shy of 6 feet in length, will make an elegant seating option for your living room, bedroom, or den.
