About the Item

Alfred Christensen - Tissø Love Seat Sofa The official re-edition of this classic love-seat sofa by Danish designer and cabinetmaker: Alfred Christensen which was originally produced by his own company: Slagelse Mobelvaerk as Model 185 in 1952. This new edition is made to order at our factory in Sweden using traditional joinery and upholstery methods. The frame is made from solid beech wood with a fully sprung seat. The legs are available in 3 finishes: oiled oak, fumed oak or walnut. This example is upholstered in Moss green cotton velvet. Other sheepskin colours and fabric upholstery options are available by request ____ Alfred Christensen made his name as lead designer, cabinetmaker and owner of the famed furniture makers: Slagelse Møbelværk which he founded with his brother Alfred in 1931. As head of design, he had a great eye for up and coming architects in Denmark, commissioning work from the likes of: Arne Vodder, Kurt Olsen, Ib Kofod-Larsen and Nils Eva Koppel. His own designs epitomised the middle-ground between classical and modernist styles which defined the post-war period in Denmark. He had a particular talent for creating functional yet sophisticated upholstered sofas and armchairs and as a manufacturer Slagelse became renowned for their quality of craftsmanship
