About the Item

Do-Lo-Rez Sofa - Ron Arad - Moroso Pair of Do-Lo-Rez Modular Sofas by Ron Arad for Moroso – Pixelated Wool Sculptures (2008) A groundbreaking fusion of industrial design and visual art, this striking pair of modular sofas was conceived by celebrated designer Ron Arad and produced by Moroso in Italy, 2008. Known as Do-Lo-Rez, this system blurs the boundary between furniture and sculpture, drawing direct inspiration from digital pixelation and 3D modeling. Sculptural Presence, Technical Precision Do-Lo-Rez (from “do low resolution”) is constructed from rectangular foam modules of varying heights, each resting on a grid-based black base. The layout appears spontaneous and organic, but every block is precision-engineered with a complex inner structure to provide both support and comfort. The result is a textural, graphic seating object that dominates a space like a work of art. The rich palette of red, burgundy, rust, and black wool upholstery echoes the pixelated roots of its concept—each color and height working together to create rhythm, depth, and energy. While bold in aesthetic, the soft contours and plush tops ensure high seating comfort, ideal for lounge environments or creative settings. The two sofas offered here form a mirrored composition and can be placed together or separated. They are in good vintage condition, with light signs of wear consistent with age and use, which do not detract from their visual impact or structural integrity.
