About the Item

Elegant and Chic Gio Ponti inspired extra large canapé sofa. This Mid-Century Modern inspired piece exhibits the most alluring design elements of the era, constructed with the finest materials and attention to detail at every angle. The canapé consists of an uninterrupted kidney bean shaped bench upholstered in taught yellow gold velvet. The high back rest radiates from the bench, following its contours and flaring outwards at the top. The height of the back rest is lower towards the sides, where it is also comfortable as an armrest and crescendoing to its highest point in the center of the canapé. This creates a cosy and secluded, yet inviting ambiance when seated in the sofa. Whereas in the room, the piece commands a reverence of luxury and style. The entire construction is elevated up off the floor on fine, elegant and coquette brass feet. This allows for a playful lightness despite the large size of the canapé. Measurements as follows: Width: 102 in (260 cm) Depth: 63 in (160 cm) Height: 31.5 in (80 cm) Given the unblemished condition, negligible signs of use and large size of this canapé we estimate that it is an extremely high quality contemporary production. It was sourced in Italy, from where it no doubt originated.
