About the Item

Sofa Ateljee designed in 1959 and produced in 1964 by finish designer Yrjö Kukkapuro for Haimi in Finland. Leather cushions, oak frame, metal details. Good vintage condition, Beautiful patina on the leather cushions. The sofa has an ergonomic design which is a key element in all of Yrjö Kukkapuro -designs. The Ateljee sofa by Yrjö Kukkapuro is one of the most iconic pieces of Finnish design. Introduced in 1964, Ateljee was first born when Kukkapuro decided to translate the structure of a steel bed into a lounge chair and a sofa. Ateljee remains one of Kukkapuro’s best-known works and has been acquired to the collections of both the Victoria Albert Museum in London and MoMA in New York.
