About the Item

This is an original Four Seasons Bar Stool, designed by Mies Van Der Rohe and Phillip Johnson in 1958 for the Four Seasons Restaurant in the Seagram Building in New York. The design is believed to be a collaboration between van der Rohe, who designed the building, and Johnson, who designed the restaurant. It features a chromed-steel cantilever base, and has a black leather seat. From the underside, it appears that the seat was originally brown. This stool was not formally put into production by Knoll until 2006, so it is presumably from the Four Seasons restaurant itself. It coordinates beautifully with van der Rohe's Brno chair, which flanked the dining tables at the restaurant. This stool measures 17.5 inches deep, 17.25 inches wide, and is 30 inches high. We have intentionally left this piece in its original condition, as it is an important example that is rarely seen in the marketplace. The base shows patina and spots, and the seat shows wear. Overall, this important stool is in good condition. Please see photos.
