About the Item
Akademia High is a useful addition to Akademia series; a high version of the comfortable chair to be used both at home as well as at the office, restaurant, café, hotel etc. surroundings. Akademia High is available in two heights, 65cm and 75cm, and with various finishes. The seat can be upholstered.
The chair was originally the result of Master’s Thesis work at Aalto University by a member of the Kaksikko team; Wesley Walters. It is a fascinating combination of different cultures – simplistic Shaker style, Japanese design traditions, and Finnish craftsmanship heritage.
“The intention of the Akademia Bar Chair was to make bar-height seating that is as comfortable as a dining chair. The relatively high backrest and ample seat width ensures that even a full meal can be enjoyed at the bar. As with the Akademia chair, minimal, vertical lines are complemented by the thin curved plywood of the seat and backrest.
