About the Item
Bench or rustic wooden stool is a genuine piece of old artisan craftsmanship, whose aesthetic pays tribute to simplicity and the passage of time. Its beautiful and marked Wabi Sabi style, whose aesthetic honors the humble and the transient, is the verifiable result of decades of honest use and work, appreciable in the original patina that only time can confer. The robust, humble solid wood presents a profound texture with characteristic natural knots, small fissures, and the gentle wear on the edges. These visible defects and wear grant soul to the piece and truthfully document its long history of utility. The construction is notably simple and functional, typical of workshop furniture or demanding daily labor. It consists of a rectangular seating board supported by two lateral legs with a subtle cutout design in the lower section, joined by horizontal cross-braces that provide stability. A distinctive and functional detail is the central circular orifice carved into the lower horizontal cross-brace, which would have been used by the artisan for specific tasks related to their craft. The assembly was carried out using thick old iron nails, visible on the surface, which solidify the structure and add an honest, raw constructive detail to the piece. The patina is inimitable, exhibiting deep nuances of dark and golden brown that attest to constant manipulation and potential contact with oils or pigments typical of a working environment.
