About the Item

This hardwood stool by Cimo Móveis is built with a solid, rounded top and three gently curved legs, the piece has a sturdy, balanced form suited for everyday use. A lower connecting shelf adds structural support while giving the stool a distinctive, architectural profile. The stool is made from Solid hardwood, the stool carries the warm tone and natural grain.  A simple and functional example of Brazilian mid-century craftsmanship. Designer Bio: Móveis Cimo was founded in 1913 in Santa Catarina, Brazil, by Jorge Zipperer and Willy Jung. What began as a small wooden box manufacturer, A. Ehrl Cia., evolved over the decades into one of the most influential furniture producers in Latin America. By the 1930s, Cimo had transitioned fully into furniture manufacturing and would go on to become the largest furniture factory in the region, operating under various names until its closure in 1982. Throughout its history, Cimo played a pioneering role in Brazilian industrial design. The company embraced mass production and standardized manufacturing processes while maintaining a strong commitment to quality and accessibility. By optimizing materials and adopting advanced technologies for its time, Cimo succeeded in producing furniture that was both affordable and well-crafted. Beyond its technical achievements, Cimo was central to the industrial development of southern Brazil and instrumental in shaping modern Brazilian furniture design. Its clean lines, functional construction, and use of high-quality native woods have made its pieces highly collectible worldwide. Today, Móveis Cimo’s designs are celebrated as enduring examples of Brazil’s mid-century modern movement.
